Statement
My work explores identity, connection, and the relationships between nature, culture, and the human form. I draw inspiration from personal and collective experiences. As a mixed-media artist, I work with papier-mâché, ceramics, and found materials, including light, to build layered and tactile pieces. I’m also inspired by the clean lines, organic forms, and functional elegance of mid-century modern design, which influences how I approach form, composition, and space.
Ceramics offers a sense of permanence that speaks to our connection with the earth, nature, and the past. In contrast, my use of light adds a more fleeting, emotional element that creates warmth, tension, and balance within the work.
I work in the arts as an Art Instructor, teaching Mixed Media and Ceramics. Creativity has always been a powerful tool for problem-solving and emotional expression in my life. I’m now working toward becoming an Art Therapist, where I hope to share the healing aspects of art-making with others and support individuals as they process their experiences through creative expression.
